1. Key facts at a glance

2. Fee structure by department

In one line: the same college charges ₹1,00,000 for Anatomy and ₹68,00,000 for Dermatology — a 68x spread inside one table, because PG seat pricing tracks demand rather than the cost of teaching.

Two things in that table are worth pausing on. The first is the shape of it: a candidate who takes Dermatology pays sixty-eight times what a candidate taking Anatomy pays, in the same building, for the same three years, taught by the same institution. That is not a statement about teaching cost. It is what happens when a seat is priced by how many people want it, and Dermatology and Radio-Diagnosis are the two branches Indian PG aspirants want most.

The second is the dashes. Only five departments carry an NRI figure, and only twelve carry the eligibility fee. It would be easy to read a dash as “nothing to pay”, and for the eligibility fee that may well be right. But a dash in a fee circular is silence, and silence is not a discount. If you are joining Pharmacology or Microbiology, ask the admissions office to confirm on letterhead that no eligibility fee applies to you, rather than assuming the blank cell settles it.

3. Hostel, deposits and the eligibility fee

In one line: ₹3,05,000 buys a 3-seater non-AC room with mess; ₹50,000 comes back at the end and ₹2,00,000 does not.

The hostel is not compulsory, and it is the same hostel the MBBS students use. Both facts come from our own counselling desk rather than from the fee circular — we checked, and the circular states neither. It prices one room type and stops. Treat ₹3,05,000 as the cost if you take a hostel seat, not as an unavoidable line, and confirm both points with the admissions office before you budget either way.

That the two courses share a hostel also explains a gap that would otherwise look like a PG concession: this PG circular prices the 3-seater non-AC room with mess at ₹3,05,000 for AY2025-26, while the MBBS circular prices the same room at ₹3,40,000 for AY2026-27. One hostel, two academic years, a ₹35,000 revision between them — not two different rates for two different courses.

Only one room type is priced. If you need a two-seater, a single, or an air-conditioned room, the circular does not say whether those exist here or what they cost. Assume for planning that a shared non-AC room is what is on offer, and confirm anything else directly.

Note also what the hostel line does not tell you: whether ₹3,05,000 is billed once a year or once for the course. It sits in the same table as the tuition figure and inherits the same silence, which section 4 deals with. And the NRI hostel figure is quoted in dollars while the caution deposit is quoted in rupees for everyone — a small inconsistency, but one that has caught NRI families out at the counter before.

4. What three years actually costs

In one line: the fees are per academic year, so a three-year MD costs three times the number in the table — and the college publishes the annual figure only, never the total.

The circular's own title settles the period: “Fee Structure for Post Graduate Degree Courses (MD & MS) for the Academic Year 2025-26”. The figures describe one academic year of a three-year course. The refund policy confirms it from the other side — it charges the “entire 3 years course fee” on a late cancellation, a phrase that only parses if the fee sheet covers one of those three years.

Add to the right-hand column, once each: a ₹2,00,000 eligibility fee on the clinical departments and Pathology, and a ₹50,000 caution deposit that comes back at the end. Add ₹3,05,000 a year if you take a hostel seat — which is not compulsory (section 3). For MD Dermatology that is a little over ₹2.13 crore before living costs, against a residency stipend of ₹76,629 a month, or roughly ₹27.6 lakh across the three years.

One thing still worth asking in writing: whether the annual figure is fixed for your full three years or revised each year. The college's Allied Health Sciences fee sheet, from the same university, states an explicit “annual fee will be increased by @ 3% every academic year”. The medical college's PG circular says nothing either way, so the three-year column above may be a floor rather than a total. One email to [email protected] settles it.

5. Who gets in — eligibility and route

In one line: NEET-PG and MCC deemed-university counselling, and nothing else.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth is a Deemed-to-be-University. That single fact settles the admission route: its PG seats are filled through the Medical Counselling Committee's counselling for Deemed and Central Universities, on an all-India merit list drawn from NEET-PG. There is no Maharashtra domicile quota here, no separate institutional entrance test, and no legitimate route into a seat that begins anywhere other than an MCC allotment letter.

That matters because PG admission is where broker activity is heaviest. A candidate who has already spent five and a half years on an MBBS and an internship is under real pressure to convert a marginal NEET-PG rank into a clinical branch, and the amounts involved are large enough to make a fraud worth attempting. The college's own document list starts, at item 1, with the “NEET PG Provisional Allotment Letter issued by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)”. If a route does not end in that letter, it does not end in a seat.

The eligibility documents the college asks for describe the candidate it expects: a completed MBBS with mark sheets for all three parts, an attempt certificate, a completed internship (or a certificate stating the likely completion date), a transfer or migration certificate, the MBBS degree or provisional degree, and permanent or provisional registration with a state medical council or the NMC. Foreign medical graduates additionally need their screening test result and eligibility certificate. Section 9 lists all twenty-six items.

6. What you are paid during residency

In one line: ₹76,629 a month, at the Maharashtra government rate rather than a lower institutional one — from the NMC's own record, not the college's prospectus.

Two things make this figure useful. First, it is the one number on this page that runs in your favour: over three years at ₹76,629 a month, residency pays roughly ₹27,58,644 before deductions, which is real money against the fee. Second, the college column reading “Given as mentioned by state Govt.” is a meaningful answer — it says the institution pays the government rate rather than setting its own lower one, which is not true of every private college on that same NMC list.

The caveat is the date. The NMC record notes the report against this row as received in 2024. Stipends are revised, and the figure you will actually be paid is the one in force when you join. Ask at counselling, and ask whether it is paid monthly and from which month of the first year.

7. Refund policy if you cancel

In one line: inside the MCC window you lose ₹10,000; outside it you are charged the entire three years of course fee.

The second row deserves to be read twice. It does not say you forfeit your deposit, or a year's fee, or a penalty — it says the entire three years of course fee is charged. For Anatomy that is an arguable ₹3,00,000. For Dermatology that is over two crore rupees — three years of fee for a seat you never occupied (section 4).

Notice also who sets the deadline. Both rows are pinned to “MCC Notification”, which means the line between a full refund and a catastrophic charge is drawn on mcc.nic.in and moves every cycle. The college is not publishing that date; it is applying someone else's. Find the current PG counselling notification, read the clause yourself, screenshot it with the date visible, and keep it with your allotment letter.

And the free row is not free either: even a clean upgrade under MCC's own rules costs ₹10,000 in processing. A candidate who upgrades through more than one round should ask whether that charge applies each time an admission is cancelled, because the policy does not say.

8. How the payment actually works

In one line: four heads, three different payees, and online details released only after your originals have been physically verified.

Three separate legal entities collect the four heads, and the names differ by only a few words. A demand draft made out to the wrong one is not a small clerical problem on a reporting day with a fixed cut-off — it is a draft that has to be cancelled and re-issued while the clock runs. Write the four payee names out before you go to the bank and check each draft against this table.

The online sequence is worth planning around too. Bank details are issued after physical verification of originals, which means you cannot pre-pay online from home and arrive with a receipt. Budget for being at the college with your documents, and for the payment happening there.

9. Documents checklist

In one line: 26 items, originals plus two sets of photocopies, plus a pen drive holding a scan of every original — and the photographs need a white background.

Two items separate this from a generic counselling checklist. The bond release certificate at item 23 matters for anyone who did a state-bonded MBBS: if you have not settled that bond, the college is asking for proof, and arranging it takes weeks rather than days. The NOC from the Directorate of Health Services at item 24 does the same job for in-service candidates. Both depend on a third party, so both belong at the front of your preparation, not the end.

And the small one that costs people an afternoon: PG photographs need a white background, while the same college's MBBS list asks for red. If you have a sibling's leftover MBBS admission photos, they are the wrong colour.

10. Common mistakes

In one line: the expensive errors here are about periods and payees — what the fee covers, when the refund window shuts, and which of three entities gets the draft.

11. Is it worth it? The loan maths

In one line: run the numbers on the per-year reading, because that is the version that hurts if you are wrong.

A residency stipend of ₹76,629 a month is a genuine offset — roughly ₹27.6 lakh across three years before deductions — and it is one of the better stipends on the NMC list for a private institution. Against a ₹7,00,000 Pharmacology seat, that changes the arithmetic completely: the stipend alone exceeds the fee several times over.

Against a ₹68,00,000 Dermatology seat it is a rounding error, and against the annual reading of that same figure it disappears entirely. This is why section 4 is not pedantry. The difference between the two readings is larger than most families' total assets, and it is decided by a word the circular does not contain.

Use the calculator below with the figure your department actually carries, and run it twice — once as a three-year total, once as a per-year cost — before you commit to anything. A specialisation is a career decision; a ₹2 crore loan is a different kind of decision entirely, and they should not be made in the same conversation.

12. How it compares — the decision framework

In one line: compare on route, on the period the fee covers, and on stipend — not on a single headline number from different documents.

We have not built a numeric side-by-side against other named PG colleges, because doing so honestly requires reading each one's own current circular, and publishing an unverified competitor figure would break the standard this page holds itself to. KMC Manipal's MD/MS page is the one comparison on this site built from primary documents in the same way, and it is a useful reference precisely because MAHE labels its figures as totals across three years — which is the label missing here.

• Route: a government PG seat through state counselling costs a fraction of any deemed-university fee, but usually carries a service bond. A deemed university like this one has no state-quota route and no state bond, at a materially higher fee.
• The period the fee covers: before comparing any two colleges, confirm that both figures describe the same thing. A three-year total set against an annual fee makes the cheaper college look three times better than it is.
• Stipend: ₹76,629 a month at the state rate is genuinely competitive for a private college. Check the NMC list entry for any alternative you are considering — several private colleges on that same list pay materially less than their state's rate.
• Branch first: with a 68x spread inside one college, your department decides your cost far more than your choice of college does.

13. What we verified directly, and what we could not

In one line: four signed college documents and one NMC record were read in full; the seat matrix and closing ranks were not, so they are absent rather than borrowed.

Read directly on 24 August 2026, page by page: the AY2025-26 PG fee circular, the 2025-26 PG refund policy, the PG certificate list dated 16 September 2025 (all three signed by Dr. A. Rekha, Dean), and the NMC UGMEB stipend detail list. The stipend row was read from the rendered document page rather than from extracted text, because that table is wide and layout-flowed and its rows do not survive extraction intact — the entries immediately above and below this college's row belong to different institutions with different figures.

Three things are genuinely unsourced, and none of them is filled from an aggregator:

• The period the tuition figure covers. Section 4. This is the largest open question on the page and the reason it is not yet in the sitemap.
• Seat count by department. The MCC seat matrix we hold is the NEET-UG one (MBBS/BDS/B.Sc. Nursing); it does not cover PG. No PG matrix for this college has been read, so no seat number appears anywhere on this page.
• NEET-PG closing ranks by department. The MCC allotment file we hold is likewise the UG one. Specialty-wise closing ranks circulate widely on aggregator sites; none of them carries a primary document we could open, so none of them is here.

14. Who should NOT choose this college

Consider it if your NEET-PG rank places you realistically inside deemed-university counselling, the department you want is one you would still want at this price, and your family can fund or responsibly finance it on the per-year reading rather than the optimistic one. Do not choose it if any of the following is true:

• You have a realistic shot at a government PG seat in your branch. The fee gap is not marginal, and the clinical volume at a busy government hospital is rarely the reason to pay it.
• You have not had the section 4 question answered in writing. Committing to a seat whose price might be three times what you think it is, is not a risk that gets smaller after you have paid.
• You would be borrowing against the possibility of upgrading later. The refund policy charges the entire three-year fee for a cancellation after the MCC window, so “take this and switch next year” is the single most expensive plan available here.
• You are relying on a broker, an agent, or any route that does not begin with an MCC allotment letter. Item 1 of the college's own document list is that letter. Nothing else is a seat.
• The department you can afford is not the department you want to practise. A ₹7,00,000 Pharmacology seat is affordable and a ₹68,00,000 Dermatology seat is not, but three years is a long time to spend in a subject chosen by price.
