What IMI Delhi is
IMI Delhi, the International Management Institute, New Delhi was set up with corporate sponsors led by RPG Enterprises and including ITC, Nestlé, Tata Chemicals, British Oxygen, SAIL and Williamson Magor, in collaboration with IMI Geneva, now IMD Lausanne. With no affiliating university, it awards postgraduate diplomas rather than degrees. Sister campuses followed at IMI Kolkata and IMI Bhubaneswar; Two founding years are published for Kolkata, 2010 and 2011; Bhubaneswar dates to 2011.
Besides the three two-year PGDMs, IMI Delhi runs an 18-month PGDM for experienced professionals (since 1984, first as PGPIM, within the PGDM’s 300 seats), an online PGDM with 300 seats and a four-year Fellow Programme in Management (since 2011) with 20.
| Body | Status |

| AIU MBA equivalence | PGDM, PGDM (HRM) and PGDM (B&FS): July 2022 to August 2027 · FPM: July 2023 to August 2027 |

| NIRF Management | Rank 40 (2025, score 56.59) · 40 (2024) · 34 (2023) |
Three of these end in 2027: AACSB in February, before a July 2027 entrant starts, and AMBA and AIU equivalence in August, a month after. No renewed dates are published for any of the three, so a student who needs MBA equivalence for a government job or study abroad should ask [email protected] for its status before accepting an offer.
Admission route and eligibility, 2027
For the batch starting July 2027, IMI Delhi accepts CAT 2026, XAT 2027 or a GMAT score taken between January 2022 and January 2027, with applications closing on 19 December 2026. Shortlisted candidates take a video assessment and then a personal interview, with interviews in January 2027 and admission decisions in February 2027. There is no fixed cut-off, and the admission process is the same for every category, with no reserved seats.
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| Applications open | September 2026 |
| CAT 2026 | 29 November 2026 |
| Last date to apply | 19 December 2026 |
| XAT 2027 | 3 January 2027 |
| Personal interviews | January 2027 |
| Admission decision | February 2027 |
| Programme begins | July 2027 |
Selection is a composite score. For the 2025-27 batch the score weighed the following, out of 100:
| Parameter | Maximum marks |
|---|---|
| CAT, XAT or GMAT score | 35 |
| Personal assessment | 30 |
| Work experience | 15 |
| Academics | 15 |
| Diversity | 5 |
| Total | 100 |
The 30 personal-assessment marks split into subject knowledge (8), behaviour and attitude (6), current affairs (6), co-curricular and extra-curricular record (4), extempore (3) and verbal communication (3). Work experience is not required, but it carries 15 marks, so a fresher competes on the other 85.
Eligibility. A bachelor’s degree of at least three years after 10+2, with 50% aggregate marks or equivalent, from a university recognised by UGC or AIU; final-year students may apply. One application, with a ₹2,250 processing fee in the 2026 cycle, can cover the Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar two-year programmes.
GMAT. For 2027, GMAT is listed alongside CAT and XAT for every applicant; in the 2026 cycle it was accepted from foreign nationals only. An Indian applicant planning to apply on GMAT alone should confirm with [email protected].
Fees, 2026-28 batch
The PGDM, PGDM (HRM) and PGDM (B&FS) share one fee: ₹23,54,000 for the 2026-28 batch on a self-sponsored seat, in six instalments over two years, with hostel and mess charged separately. The same ₹23.54 lakh is quoted for 2027 admissions, and no 2027-29 fee table is out yet.
| Component | Per instalment (IMI rounds each) | Two-year total |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | 3,44,000 × 6 | 20,64,000 |
| Learning materials | 17,500 × 6 | 1,05,000 |
| Student activities & welfare | 7,167 × 6 | 43,000 |
| Library & information resources | 12,500 × 6 | 75,000 |
| IT infrastructure | 5,333 × 6 | 32,000 |
| Alumni life membership | 20,000, first instalment | 20,000 |
| Security deposit, refundable | 15,000, first instalment | 15,000 |
| Total | 4,21,500 first, then 3,86,500 × 5 | 23,54,000 |
| Seat | Two-year total |
|---|---|
| Self-sponsored | ₹23,54,000 |
| Company-sponsored | ₹36,97,160 (tuition ₹34,07,160) |
| Foreign national | USD 26,720 |
| Instalment | Due |
|---|---|
| I, with first-year hostel and mess | Date in the offer letter |
| II | 10 September 2026 |
| III | 10 December 2026 |
| IV, with second-year hostel and mess | 25 March 2027 |
| V | 10 September 2027 |
| VI | 10 December 2027 |
Company-sponsored students get no placement support, and nor do foreign nationals. IMI offers two scholarships of its own, the IMI Academic Excellence Scholarship and the IMI Professional Impact Scholarship, but publishes no amount for either. Separately, under AICTE’s Tuition Fee Waiver scheme, a limited number of students with family income below ₹8 lakh a year can have the tuition component waived, chosen on admission merit within a month of classes starting.
Two totals are published for this fee: ₹23,54,000, labelled both 2025-27 and 2026-28, and ₹22,00,000, labelled 2026-27. ₹23,54,000 is the latest dated figure, with instalments from 2026 to December 2027, and the same amount is quoted for 2027 admissions.
Hostel and campus
IMI Delhi has limited on-campus hostel rooms, all air-conditioned and twin-sharing, allotted first come, first served at the institute’s discretion, with preference to outstation and foreign students. A student who gets a room pays hostel and mess on top of the programme fee, year by year.
| Room | 2026-27 | 2027-28 |
|---|---|---|
| Twin sharing, attached bathroom | 3,83,000 (hostel 2,78,000 + mess 1,05,000) | 4,10,000 (hostel 2,97,500 + mess 1,12,500) |
| Twin sharing, common bathroom | 2,99,000 (hostel 1,94,000 + mess 1,05,000) | 3,20,000 (hostel 2,07,500 + mess 1,12,500) |
Over two years the hostel and mess come to ₹7,93,000 in an attached-bathroom room and ₹6,19,000 with a common bathroom (our sum of IMI’s two yearly figures). With the ₹23,54,000 programme fee, that is ₹31,47,000 or ₹29,73,000 for the two years before living costs, our computed estimate. IMI publishes no hostel capacity, so a room is not guaranteed, and it gives no figure for living off campus. For foreign nationals, an attached-bathroom room is USD 4,425 for 2026-27 and USD 4,653 for 2027-28.
| Facility | Detail |

In 2022-24 more than 175 companies took part, over 70 of them new, with two international offers. A ₹68.66 lakh highest and a ₹18.08 lakh average are also given, without a batch; until a report for the 2024-26 batch is out, 2023-25 is the latest batch with a full report.

How IMI Delhi compares
Among the two-year PGDMs in Delhi NCR, IMI Delhi charges almost exactly what FORE and IMT Ghaziabad charge, and its 2023-25 median sits a little above FORE’s and a little above IMT Ghaziabad’s more recent one.
| Institute | Fee | Average / median CTC | NIRF Management 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMI Delhi (PGDM) | ₹23,54,000, hostel extra (2026-28) | ₹17.62 L / ₹16.56 L (2023-25) | 40 |
| FORE School Delhi (PGDM) | ₹23,24,000, hostel extra (2026-28) | ₹16.4 L / ₹15.2 L (2023-25) | 59 |
| IMT Ghaziabad (PGDM) | ₹23,00,000, hostel not stated (2026-28) | ₹17.64 L / ₹16.50 L (2024-26) | 30 |
| LBSIM Delhi (PGDM General) | ₹17,25,000, hostel extra (2027-29) | ₹12.4 L average (2024-26, interim) | 101–125 band |
| MDI Gurgaon (PGDM) | ₹26,55,310 with hostel and mess (2027-29) | ₹29.5 L / ₹29.0 L (2024-26) | 9 |
The batches are not the same year, so read the salary column as a band, not a ranking. IMI’s distinct offers are the PGDM (B&FS), whose 2023-25 average of ₹20.90 lakh is the highest of its three programmes, and a dedicated HR programme. MDI Gurgaon costs more but includes hostel and mess, and its median is far higher; IIFT Delhi is a CAT-only alternative with its fee including boarding. IMI admits through CAT, XAT or GMAT; for the wider field, see our MBA admission guide.

Frequently asked questions
What is the IMI Delhi PGDM fee?
₹23,54,000 for the 2026-28 batch on a self-sponsored seat, the same for PGDM, PGDM (HRM) and PGDM (B&FS), paid in six instalments; the same ₹23.54 lakh is quoted for 2027 admissions. A company-sponsored seat costs ₹36,97,160. Hostel and mess are extra: ₹2,99,000 to ₹3,83,000 for 2026-27, depending on the room.
Which exams does IMI Delhi accept for 2027?
CAT 2026, XAT 2027 or a GMAT score taken between January 2022 and January 2027. For the 2026 cycle GMAT was restricted to foreign nationals, so an Indian applicant using GMAT alone should confirm with [email protected]. The last date to apply is 19 December 2026.
What is the IMI Delhi cut-off?
IMI Delhi publishes no cut-off and fixes none. Selection is a composite score: for the 2025-27 batch the test score carried 35 of 100 marks, the personal assessment 30, work experience 15, academics 15 and diversity 5. A high percentile helps but cannot carry the offer alone.
What were IMI Delhi placements for 2023-25?
The 412-student batch averaged ₹17.91 lakh with a ₹16.60 lakh median and a ₹40.31 lakh highest. By programme the average was ₹17.62 lakh for PGDM, ₹16.32 lakh for PGDM (HRM) and ₹20.90 lakh for PGDM (B&FS). For 2024-25 graduates, 403 of 409 were placed at a ₹16,61,000 median.
Does IMI Delhi have a hostel?
Yes, but rooms are limited and allotted first come, first served, with preference to outstation and foreign students. All rooms are air-conditioned and twin-sharing. For 2026-27 a room with attached bathroom costs ₹3,83,000 with mess, and one with a common bathroom ₹2,99,000; for 2027-28 the figures are ₹4,10,000 and ₹3,20,000.
Is the IMI Delhi PGDM equivalent to an MBA?
IMI awards a PGDM, not a degree. AIU has granted MBA equivalence to the PGDM, PGDM (HRM) and PGDM (B&FS) for July 2022 to August 2027, so a 2027 entrant graduates after the current grant ends; ask IMI about the renewal if equivalence matters for a government job or further study.
Are there reservations or scholarships at IMI Delhi?
The admission process is the same for every category, with no reserved seats. IMI offers an Academic Excellence Scholarship and a Professional Impact Scholarship without published amounts, and under AICTE’s Tuition Fee Waiver scheme a limited number of students with family income below ₹8 lakh a year can have tuition waived on admission merit.
What is the 18-month PGDM at IMI Delhi?
A full-time, residential general-management programme for professionals, run since 1984. Under its latest published rules (2024-25 intake) it asks for at least three years of work experience and admits on CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA or GMAT, and its fee for the 2025-26 batch was ₹14,96,000 including lodging and boarding. Company-sponsored candidates are shortlisted by their employers.
