FMS Delhi MBA Admission 2027: Fees, Seats & Selection

2. Fee structure

FMS's own current bulletin states a semester fee of approximately ₹60,818 — a near-nominal figure for a top-ranked Indian MBA, since FMS is a Delhi University department, not a private institute.

Even as an estimate, this places FMS among the lowest-fee full-time MBA options from a top-tier Indian institute — a fraction of the ₹28+ lakh fee schedules documented elsewhere on this site for private B-schools. The trade-off, covered in sections 4 and 6, is that competition for the roughly 101 general-category seats is intense.

3. Hostel

FMS does not have a hostel of its own — non-Delhi students must apply separately for a seat in one of the University of Delhi's general hostels, and allotment is not guaranteed.

Per FMS's own bulletin, students requiring accommodation may apply for a place in the University of Delhi's own hostel system rather than an FMS-run facility. The bulletin names 7 men's halls and 4 women's halls, all located on DU's North Campus. Because these hostels serve the whole university and not FMS specifically, a seat is not reserved for FMS MBA students and allotment runs through DU's own separate hostel-application process — budget for the possibility of off-campus housing in Delhi if a hostel seat is not secured.

251 sanctioned seats across five reservation categories, plus supernumerary seats that sit outside the sanctioned count entirely.

5. Who gets in — eligibility

a bachelor's degree of at least 3 years in any discipline, with minimum marks of 50% (General), 45% (OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD/CW) or a bare pass (SC/ST), plus a valid current-cycle CAT score.

Per FMS's own bulletin, final-year bachelor's degree candidates may apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of having met the eligibility criteria by a date FMS specifies. Only candidates who have taken the CAT examination for the specific admission cycle are considered — a CAT score from a prior year cannot be carried forward to a later FMS admission cycle. There is no GMAT/GRE route for Indian nationals; that route exists only for the separate Foreign Nationals category (section 8).

6. Selection criteria and weightage

shortlisting uses a Weighted CAT Score of VARC 40% + DILR 30% + QA 30%; final selection blends that score with academics, an SOP Discussion, an Extempore and a Personal Interview — there is no Group Discussion in the current process.

The practical implication: a very high overall CAT percentile with a weak section (for instance, a strong QA/DILR score but a weak VARC) can score lower on FMS's Weighted CAT Score than a more balanced profile with a lower overall percentile — read the exact VARC/DILR/QA split of your own CAT scorecard against this formula rather than relying on your overall percentile alone.

Per FMS's own bulletin for the 2026-28 batch (admitted via CAT 2025), the last date of admission and the last date for fee-based withdrawal were both 31 August 2026, with no refund of fees after that date. That cycle is closing as this page is published. FMS has not yet released its bulletin for the next cycle — the batch that will be admitted via CAT 2026 (registration opens 3 August 2026, exam 29 November 2026) for entry in 2027. Expect the same weighted-selection structure (section 6) and a similar fee (section 2) to carry forward, but confirm exact dates once FMS publishes its next Information Bulletin.

8. Foreign nationals route

25 seats reserved for foreign nationals (8 SAARC + 17 other countries), admitted through Delhi University's Foreign Students' Registry rather than CAT.

Per FMS's own bulletin, foreign national applicants must apply via fsr.du.ac.in, not the CAT-based domestic process. They must have already completed their qualifying bachelor's degree at the time of application — a candidate still pursuing the final year is not eligible under this route, unlike the domestic provisional-eligibility allowance in section 5. A minimum score of GMAT 650 or GRE 120 is required, waived only for candidates holding an ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) scholarship or a scholarship from their own home government. Applicants must also certify that their prior education was in the English medium of instruction.

FMS's own bulletin requires self-attested copies of all educational and category certificates at the application stage, with original certificates and marksheets produced for verification at the interview stage. The bulletin carries an explicit warning: candidates found to have submitted false information or falsely attested documents face debarment from FMS admission for 5 years, in addition to any criminal case FMS may choose to file. Standard documents required include: Class X and XII mark sheets, bachelor's degree provisional certificate and consolidated marksheets, CAT scorecard, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD/CW, from the specific issuing authority FMS names for each), valid photo ID, and passport-size photographs.

FMS sits in a distinctive spot: a government-department fee structure attached to one of India's oldest and most respected MBA programmes (est. 1954, MBA Full-Time since 1967). This is the same near-nominal-fee, high-prestige pattern documented on this site's AIIMS Delhi MBBS admission page — a genuinely low cost with correspondingly intense competition for the general-category seats. Against a private B-school like BITSoM Mumbai, the trade-off is direct: BITSoM's ₹28.55 lakh fee buys a smaller batch, a residential campus and a published placement report; FMS's roughly ₹2.43 lakh estimate buys DU's legacy brand and network at a fraction of the cost, but without a dedicated hostel or a sourced placement figure on this page.

• Placement salary data. FMS's own Information Bulletin — our source for this entire page — does not publish average, median or highest package figures. We have deliberately not used aggregator-reported numbers, which disagreed with each other in our research.
• Next admission cycle's exact dates. Our source bulletin covers the 2026-28 batch (via CAT 2025); FMS has not yet published its bulletin for the CAT-2026-based cycle leading to 2027 entry.
• CAT cutoff / realistic percentile range. FMS publishes no official cutoff, and its weighted-score formula (section 6) makes a single percentile figure an unreliable proxy in any case.
• DU general-hostel allotment odds for FMS students specifically. We know FMS students may apply to DU's 7 men's/4 women's halls, but not the realistic chance of getting a seat.
