What IMI Kolkata is
IMI Kolkata, the International Management Institute Kolkata, is the second campus of IMI, part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group; IMI Delhi and IMI Bhubaneswar are the other two. Two founding years are published for it, 2011 and 2010. Its two-year programme leads to a postgraduate diploma, with MBA equivalence from AIU.

The AIU equivalence and the AMBA accreditation both run to 2027, and no renewal had been published as of 6 October 2026; ask admissions whether they will cover the 2027-29 batch. The three IMI campuses share one application and run the same admission timeline, but each sets its own fee, hostel charges and placements, so a figure from IMI Delhi does not carry over. Admission route and eligibility
For the batch starting July 2027, applications close on 19 December 2026, interviews run in January 2027 and decisions follow in February. For the 2026 cycle the tests were CAT, XAT and CMAT, with GMAT for foreign nationals; candidates were shortlisted on the test score, then interviewed.

The final offer is a composite of academics, the interview, work experience and extra-curricular record; IMI Kolkata publishes no weights and no cut-off. Eligibility: a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA, from a university in India or abroad recognised by UGC or AIU; final-year students may apply. The application fee is ₹2,250, and a candidate who has already applied to IMI Delhi can add Kolkata at no extra cost. Company-sponsored students and foreign nationals get no placement support.

The PGDM fee for the 2026-28 batch is ₹14,98,000 on a self-sponsored seat and ₹16,94,000 on a company-sponsored seat, paid in six instalments, with hostel and mess on top.

Students with family income below ₹8 lakh a year can apply for a tuition fee waiver after admission, offered on up to 5% of the seats. No 2027-29 fee table had been published as of 6 October 2026.
Hostel and mess
IMI Kolkata requires every student to live in its hostel. The charge depends on the room, and mess is ₹85,000 a year; the figures are marked indicative and subject to change.

Rooms are allotted first come, first served from a preference form sent after the admission fee is paid. Over two years, fee plus hostel comes to between ₹18,68,000 and ₹21,18,000 on a self-sponsored seat, our sum of the published figures. The residential block has single and double rooms, with separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian dining. The first year’s hostel and mess are paid with the first fee instalment and the second year’s with the fourth, in March 2027.

The 2023-25 batch of 187 averaged ₹12.75 lakh, with a ₹12.49 lakh median and a ₹40.31 lakh highest CTC; every graduate of the last three years was placed.

Graduating year 2024-25 is the 2023-25 batch, and the medians in both tables agree. A second set, with no batch named, gives a ₹13.69 lakh average, ₹12.54 lakh median, ₹23.68 lakh top-10% average and ₹41.36 lakh highest; the same ₹41.36 lakh is the highest offer in IMI Bhubaneswar’s 2024-26 batch.

The two eastern IMI campuses charge the same ₹14,98,000, about two-thirds of IMI Delhi’s fee, and IMI Kolkata ranks higher in NIRF than IMI Bhubaneswar.

For another option in the east, MDI Murshidabad charges ₹16,45,940 for 2027-29 with boarding and lodging included. All three IMI campuses close applications on 19 December 2026 and hold interviews in January 2027, so one application can cover them, and the choice comes down to fee, hostel cost and city.
