Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT), Bengaluru Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees & Placements

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT) is a private engineering college in north Bengaluru, established in 1986 by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by AICTE; the institute's official website states NAAC 'A' grade accreditation and six NBA-accredited programmes. It is an affiliated college, not an autonomous one — the syllabus and examinations are VTU's, not the college's own.

The campus covers 133 acres at Krishnadevaraya Nagar, Hunasamaranahalli, off International Airport Road, Bengaluru 562157 — closer to Kempegowda International Airport and Yelahanka than to the city centre. The institute runs 13 BE programmes with a heavy computing concentration: CSE, CSE (Data Science), CSE (IoT and Cybersecurity including Blockchain), AI and Machine Learning, Information Science, Electronics and Computer Engineering, and Robotics and AI, alongside ECE, EEE, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical, Civil and Biotechnology.

Scale is worth registering before anything else on this page. Sanctioned UG intake rose from 720 in AY2021-22 to 1,140 in AY2024-25 (NIRF submission), and total UG strength stood at 3,481 students, 834 of them from outside Karnataka (same submission). That expansion changes how you should read both cutoffs and placement ratios further down.

Sir MVIT's own admission-procedure page splits BE seats three ways: 45% through KCET plus a 5% supernumerary quota (SNQ) fee-waiver track for meritorious economically weaker students, 30% through COMEDK UGET, and 25% through management quota.

A correction worth stating clearly: Sir MVIT's KEA (KCET) college code is E012, and its COMEDK college code is E126 — these were independently verified during a follow-up research pass, since a nearby code (E032) actually belongs to a different institution entirely (R.T.E. Society's Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti). Always match the code against the institution name in the official seat matrix, not just the number.

• KCET route: for Karnataka-domicile candidates. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) runs centralised online counselling — registration, document verification, option entry and multiple allotment rounds — on its CET portal.
• COMEDK route: open to Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates alike, which is what makes Sir MVIT reachable from outside the state. Counselling is fully online at comedk.org: register, fill choices, receive a seat allotment, accept and freeze (or continue to later rounds), then report to the college. COMEDK also warns that candidates whose choice-filling form is blank after Round 1 are not considered for the further process — fill choices even if you are undecided.
• Management quota: handled directly by the trust's Head-Admissions ([email protected], 080-28467248, per the AY2026-27 fees notice). No entrance rank is needed, but AICTE eligibility rules still apply.

COMEDK-quota fee, now resolved: per COMEDK's own official Final Seat Availability & Fee Structure notice (14.07.2026, college code E126), the AY2026-27 fresh-admission rate is ₹3,02,000/year (₹2,82,000 tuition + ₹20,000 other) for CSE, AI&ML, CSE-Data Science, ECE, Robotics&AI and Electronics&Computer Engineering; ₹1,50,000/year for core branches (Civil, EEE, E&TE, Mechanical); and ₹2,50,000/year for Biotechnology.

CET-quota fee — only partially resolved. An official notice (Ref. VIT/OFF/A&E/2026-27/631, dated 25 June 2026) gives CET-quota totals for continuing students: ₹1,23,670 (2nd year), ₹1,18,005 (3rd year), and ₹99,284 (4th year), for the odd semester of 2026-27. This notice is explicitly titled for continuing "II, III & IV Year" students — no separate notice confirming the fresh-admission, first-year AY2026-27 CET-quota rate was found. Do not assume the continuing-student figures apply to a new first-year admit; confirm the current first-year rate directly with the admissions office.

Both closing figures are read directly from each authority's own official allotment document, matched against the correct institute codes: KEA's "UGCET-2026 Allotment Cut-off Ranks" (generated 15 July 2026, the most recent completed round) for college code E012, and COMEDK's official Round-3 cutoff PDF (notified 18 August 2026) for college code E126.

How Sir MVIT's cutoffs behave structurally: the CS-family branches (CSE, Data Science, AI-ML, ISE) close earliest at almost every VTU-affiliated Bengaluru college, with ECE next and the core branches (Mechanical, Civil, EEE) closing much later — Civil's COMEDK closing rank of 65,652 is a clear illustration of that gap. Compare like-for-like rounds — Round 1 against Round 1 — because final-round ranks include surrendered seats and are not a plan for next year. And remember the intake expansion noted earlier: more sanctioned seats generally means closing ranks drift outward year-on-year, so a two-year-old cutoff understates your realistic chances.

All figures are from the NIRF Engineering data-capture submission signed by the institute and hosted on its own website (IR-E-C-1327) — the closest thing to an audited placement number that exists for this college. The college's placement page adds batch-wise claims — 520 offers for the 2022-23 batch and a stated highest offer of ₹16,00,000 for the 2023-24 batch — but publishes no average or median, and its recent-year placement percentages are incomplete. Note that offers are not students placed: one student can hold several offers.

Read the placed count alongside the median. The number of students placed swung from 341 (2022-23) to 200 (2023-24) to 330 (2024-25) — a genuinely volatile pattern, even as the median salary rose steadily. Do not build a decision on the rising median alone; the 2023-24 dip is a real part of the same record.

Branch-wise placement data is not published, checked again for this rebuild — ask for it in writing during counselling if it matters to your decision.

Because the 133-acre campus sits off International Airport Road, well away from central Bengaluru, most outstation students treat Sir MVIT as a residential college rather than a commuting one.

The terms matter as much as the amounts: the hostel fee is non-refundable irrespective of admission or vacating date, part payments are not accepted, and continued stay depends on conduct and academic eligibility (AY2026-27).

Boys' hostel fees are not published anywhere on the official site, checked again for this rebuild (2026-08-20) — the boys' hostel page shows only facility photos with no linked fee circular. Get the current figure in writing from the hostel office before you commit either way.

The comparison that matters is by decision axis, not by brand.

• On cost: government colleges like COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai charge a fraction of private-college fees, but both sit behind Maharashtra's MHT-CET counselling, where the bulk of seats favour home-state candidates. If you hold a strong rank and domicile there, they win on economics before any other argument starts.
• On accessibility from outside the state: this is Sir MVIT's genuine edge. COMEDK is open to all-India candidates with its own online counselling, so a student from anywhere can compete for 30% of seats — an easier door than the home-state-weighted CAP routes that guard PICT Pune or SPIT Mumbai.
• On computing focus: PICT Pune and SPIT Mumbai are tighter, smaller CS-centric colleges with stronger placement reputations in their cities; Sir MVIT counters with breadth (13 BE programmes), a 133-acre residential campus and the Bengaluru hiring market around it.
• On curriculum control: VIT Pune and SPIT Mumbai are autonomous; Sir MVIT is VTU-affiliated, so coursework and exams follow the university, not the college.

If Bengaluru's tech ecosystem plus an all-India entrance route is your priority, Sir MVIT belongs on the shortlist; if minimum cost or an autonomous curriculum is, the peers above deserve the first look.
