The two programmes
MBA-BM is the two-year residential programme, EMBA-BM is the executive one — same tests, same form, same deadline.
- MBA-BM — Two-Year Fully Residential Master’s Program in Business Management, offered by Xavier Institute of Management, XIM University, Bhubaneswar.
- EMBA-BM — the executive route, for people already working.
- Both accept the same four tests and share one application form and one deadline.
- Other master’s programmes in the same fee grid: MBA-HRM, MBA-RM, MBA-SM, MBA-UMG, MBA-PPM and MMS-BF.
Eligibility
55% in a three-year degree for both, and EMBA-BM adds experience, an age bar and an employer NOC.
| Requirement | MBA-BM | EMBA-BM |
|---|---|---|
| Degree | Bachelor’s of at least three years, or equivalent, in any discipline from a recognised University | Same |
| Minimum marks | 55% aggregate | 55% aggregate |
| Final-year students | May apply, provided final examinations and all degree requirements are completed by 15 June 2027 | Same |
| Work experience | Not required | At least 3 years as on 15 June 2027, in an executive capacity in a public, private or non-governmental organisation. Self-employed: at least 5 years after the qualifying degree. |
| Age | Not stated | 23 years completed as on 15 June 2027 |
| Employer consent | Not required | No-objection or sponsorship certificate from the employer |
Work experience is an optional field on the MBA-BM form, not a bar.
Accepted tests and their dates
four tests qualify, spread from 29 November 2026 to 17 January 2027, and you may enter through more than one.
| Test | Conducted by | Date |
|---|---|---|
| XAT | XLRI Jamshedpur | 3 January 2027 |
| CAT | The IIMs | 29 November 2026 |
| GMAT | Conducted or to be conducted in 2026 | 2025 / 2026 |
| XGMT | XIM University | 17 January 2027 |
- You must apply for and appear in at least one of them.
- Applying through several tests is allowed on a single form.
- XAT, CAT and GMAT: register with that test authority separately and follow its own notification and deadlines. Registering for the test is a prerequisite for applying through it.
XGMT: fee, registration and test cities
₹1,650, no separate form, and you may pick three cities but sit in the one allotted.
- Date: 17 January 2027 (Sunday), 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
- Fee: ₹1,650, excluding applicable payment gateway charges and taxes.
- No separate XGMT form. Selecting XGMT for one or more programmes in the XIM University application registers you automatically.
- Test cities (17): Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi and Rourkela.
- You may choose up to three cities, but must appear in the city allotted to you.
How to apply, and what applying costs
one form covers every programme and test option — ₹1,900 for the first, ₹850 for the second, ₹400 after that.
- Create a login. On the XIM University application portal, use New User to generate your XU ID and password. Both arrive by email.
- Fill the form. Personal details, educational qualifications, work experience if any, the programmes you want, your preferred test options, and a Statement of Purpose.
- Upload a recent photograph and your signature, to the specifications on the form.
- Pay through the secure payment gateway.
| Application fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| First programme or test option | ₹1,900 |
| Second programme or test option | ₹850 |
| Each additional programme or test option | ₹400 |
- One form covers multiple programmes and multiple tests, so the second and third choices are cheap.
- The Statement of Purpose is used in the selection process later, so it is not a formality.
Selection process
the test only gets you shortlisted — Group Discussion, Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview decide the rest.
- Candidates are shortlisted on performance in XAT, CAT, GMAT or XGMT.
- Those shortlisted may be called for a Group Discussion, a Writing Ability Test and a Personal Interview.
- Final selection weighs the test, the interview, past academic records and relevant work experience.
- Offers to selected and waitlisted candidates are purely provisional.
- Detailed modalities are communicated in due course through the University website or by email.
- Candidates meet their own travel and accommodation costs for the interview.
| Programme | Offline GD / WAT / PI cities |
|---|---|
| MBA-BM | Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna |
| EMBA-BM | Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai |
You may choose up to three cities and must attend in the one allotted.
Fees for every master’s programme
MBA-BM is ₹11,50,000 a year and EMBA-BM ₹14,00,000 for its single course-fee year, before the common heads below.
| Head (₹) | MBA-BM | MBA-HRM | MBA-RM | MBA-SM | MBA-UMG | MBA-PPM | MMS-BF | EMBA-BM |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Course fee, first year | 11,50,000 | 11,00,000 | 7,00,000 | 6,00,000 | 6,00,000 | 6,00,000 | 6,00,000 | 14,00,000 |
| Course fee, second year | 11,50,000 | 11,00,000 | 7,00,000 | 6,20,000 | 6,20,000 | 6,20,000 | 6,20,000 | – |
| Development fund | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 | 1,00,000 |
| Course materials per year | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | – |
| IT expenses per year | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 |
| University alumni activities fee | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 |
| Career advisory services | 50,000 | 50,000 | 50,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | 40,000 | – |
| Field learning expenses | – | 30,000 | 40,000 | 30,000 | 30,000 | 30,000 | – | – |
| Refundable deposits | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 |
- Both course-fee years are printed for MBA-BM, so the two-year course fee is ₹23,00,000. For MBA-HRM it is ₹22,00,000 and for MBA-RM ₹14,00,000.
- MBA-SM, MBA-UMG, MBA-PPM and MMS-BF each rise by ₹20,000 in the second year, from ₹6,00,000 to ₹6,20,000 — a two-year course fee of ₹12,20,000.
- EMBA-BM prints a dash against the second year, and against course materials, career advisory and field learning.
- ₹20,000 of the deposit is refundable on every programme.
What the fee grid does not settle
only two heads say “per year”, so a programme total cannot be worked out from the grid alone — ask before you budget.
- Only course materials and IT expenses carry a “per year” label.
- The development fund, alumni fee, career advisory charge and refundable deposit carry no frequency at all — they may be one-time or annual.
- That gap is worth a written answer before you size a loan, because on MBA-BM it is the difference between ₹1,80,000 once and ₹1,80,000 twice.
- Hostel, mess and living costs are not in this grid.
- We have not put a two-year all-in total on this page, because the grid does not support one.
Key dates
the form closes on 15 December 2026, two tests fall after it, and every degree requirement must be met by 15 June 2027.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| CAT | 29 November 2026 |
| Application deadline, MBA-BM and EMBA-BM | 15 December 2026 (Tuesday) |
| XAT | 3 January 2027 |
| XGMT | 17 January 2027 (Sunday), 2.00–4.00 pm |
| Degree requirements complete, final-year applicants | 15 June 2027 |
| Experience and age reckoned, EMBA-BM | 15 June 2027 |
- The deadline falls before XAT and XGMT, so you apply first and sit the test after.
- Miss 15 December 2026 and no test score helps.
Two things on the pages that do not line up
the portal said the form was closed while the same page advertised a December deadline, and the executive page carries the wrong programme heading.
- On 12 September 2026 both programme pages showed “Online Application is Closed” in red.
- The same pages carry an application deadline of 15 December 2026.
- The likely reading is that the form for this cycle had not opened yet, but the pages do not say so.
- Plan against 15 December 2026 and watch the portal for the form to open. Do not read a closed portal in September as the cycle being over.
- Second mismatch: the EMBA-BM page opens with the MBA-BM heading and the MBA-BM Important Information block, so the first table you meet there is not the executive programme’s.
- Read the Eligibility panel further down that page for the executive requirements, not the table at the top.
How XIMB compares
compare on the test you are already sitting, and on the fee bracket you can actually fund.
- Already sitting XAT: XLRI Jamshedpur runs the test itself, and one XAT score reaches both.
- Already sitting CAT: IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and MDI Gurgaon take the same paper, so XIMB costs only the extra form.
- Own test, own process: SPJIMR Mumbai and NMIMS Mumbai weigh the profile differently from a pure score shortlist.
- Similar fee bracket: Great Lakes Chennai and IMT Ghaziabad are the comparisons to run against MBA-BM’s ₹11,50,000 a year.
- Cheaper inside XIMB itself: MBA-RM at ₹7,00,000 a year and MBA-SM at ₹6,00,000 sit on the same form as MBA-BM.
- Everything we cover sits on the management admissions hub.

Frequently asked questions
What is the XIMB MBA fee?
MBA-BM course fees are ₹11,50,000 in the first year and ₹11,50,000 in the second, so ₹23,00,000 across the programme. On top sit a ₹1,00,000 development fund, ₹40,000 of course materials a year, ₹20,000 of IT expenses a year, a ₹10,000 alumni fee, ₹50,000 for career advisory services and a ₹20,000 refundable deposit. EMBA-BM is ₹14,00,000 with a dash against the second year.
Which entrance tests does XIMB accept?
Four: XAT, CAT, GMAT and XGMT. You must apply for and appear in at least one, and you may apply through several on the same form. XAT is on 3 January 2027, CAT on 29 November 2026, XGMT on 17 January 2027, and GMAT scores from tests conducted in 2025 or 2026 are accepted. XAT, CAT and GMAT need separate registration with their own test authorities.
What is XGMT and what does it cost?
XGMT is the XIM General Management Test, conducted by XIM University. It runs on 17 January 2027, a Sunday, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, and the fee is ₹1,650 excluding payment gateway charges and taxes. There is no separate XGMT application form — selecting XGMT for one or more programmes inside the XIM University application registers you automatically.
What is the XIMB eligibility requirement?
A bachelor’s degree of at least three years, or an equivalent qualification, in any discipline from a recognised University, with at least 55% aggregate marks. Final-year students may also apply, provided they complete their final examinations and every other degree requirement by 15 June 2027. EMBA-BM applicants additionally need three years of executive experience, a completed age of 23, and an employer no-objection or sponsorship certificate.
When is the XIMB application deadline?
15 December 2026, a Tuesday, for both MBA-BM and EMBA-BM. It falls before two of the four accepted tests — XAT on 3 January 2027 and XGMT on 17 January 2027 — so you submit the form first and sit the test afterwards. Missing the deadline cannot be repaired by a good score later in the cycle.
How much does it cost to apply to XIMB?
₹1,900 for the first programme or test option, ₹850 for the second, and ₹400 for each additional programme or test option after that. One application form covers multiple programmes and multiple tests, so adding a second programme or a second test route is far cheaper than the first. The XGMT examination fee of ₹1,650 is separate.
What is the XIMB selection process?
Candidates are shortlisted on their performance in XAT, CAT, GMAT or XGMT, then may be called for a Group Discussion, a Writing Ability Test and a Personal Interview. Final selection weighs that interview performance together with the test score, past academic records and relevant work experience. Offers made to selected and waitlisted candidates are purely provisional.
Where are the XIMB interviews held?
If held offline, MBA-BM interviews run at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur or Patna. EMBA-BM uses a shorter list: Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata or Mumbai. You may choose up to three cities but must attend in the one allotted to you, and you meet your own travel and accommodation costs.
