We are an admissions counselling practice working out of Metro House, Sangamvadi, Pune. The work is the unglamorous part of an admission: reading your score against the right merit list, building a preference order that cannot lock a better option out, checking documents against the authority's own list before reporting, and putting the real fee — tuition, development, hostel, and what MahaDBT does or does not reimburse — in front of the family before a seat is accepted. Maharashtra CAP is the route we know best, and Pune is where most of it happens. We cannot allot a seat and we do not sell one; the State CET Cell, MCC or the institute decides that. The first conversation costs nothing.
What we actually do, in order
In one line: four jobs — read the score, build the list, protect the seat at reporting, and cost the whole degree before you commit to it.
Most families arrive with a result and a rumour. The result is a number that means nothing until it is read against the right list; the rumour is usually about a quota that either does not exist at that college or costs far more than the person repeating it realises. The four things below are the entire service.
- Read the score honestly. An MHT-CET percentile, a JEE Main percentile and a NEET-UG rank are three different currencies, and each one is read against a different list — the CET Cell's CAP cut-offs, the institute's own list, or MCC's. What matters is the closing figure for your category and your home state in the round you can actually reach, not the college's headline cut-off.
- Build a preference order, not a wish list. The option form is the one part of CAP a candidate fully controls, and it is where most damage is done. A better college placed below a worse one can be locked out permanently by an allotment you were going to accept anyway.
- Protect the seat at reporting. Seats are lost at document verification more often than at the merit stage — a domicile certificate in the wrong format, an income certificate past its validity window, a name that does not match across two documents. We check against the authority's published list, not from memory.
- Cost the whole degree, not the first instalment. Tuition is one line. Development fees, hostel and mess, and the years after the first are the rest of it. Our fee and EMI calculator exists for the loan half of that conversation.
The three routes into a Pune college
In one line: CAP, institute-level and the deemed/MCC route are three different processes with three different fee structures — and a family usually needs to be told which one they are actually in.
Almost every confused admission conversation in Pune comes from mixing these up. They are not tiers of the same thing; they are separate processes run by different bodies, and a seat in one has nothing to do with a seat in another.
- CAP (Centralised Admission Process) — run by the State CET Cell for Maharashtra candidates on MHT-CET, with a JEE-based All-India quota alongside it. Fees are the FRA-approved figures, and this is the only route where a MahaDBT freeship or scholarship applies.
- Institute-level — the sanctioned seats a college fills itself after CAP rounds. These are legitimate, published seats with published fees, not a back door. Sometimes the fee is identical to CAP; sometimes it is several times higher. The honest version of that comparison is on institute-level vs CAP fees.
- Deemed universities and All-India Quota — run by MCC for medical, or by the university itself. No state domicile requirement, a different fee structure entirely, and a different calendar. See MBBS admission and MD/MS admission.
MHT-CET CAP: the sequence that decides the seat
In one line: allotment is decided by your merit number and your option order, and the option form closes before you know what the cut-off will be.
The single most useful thing to understand about CAP is that the cut-off is an output, not an input. It is published after allotment, derived from where the last admitted candidate landed. So the option form has to be built against last year's pattern and this year's merit number, never against a cut-off that does not exist yet.
Freeze, float and slide are the other half. Choosing freeze accepts what you have and ends your candidature for better options. Float keeps you in for an upgrade but can move you somewhere you like less. Each round has a reporting window and a fee deadline, and missing either forfeits the seat and, usually, the money already paid. Where families actually lose seats
In one line: almost none of the losses we see are about marks — they are about dates, documents and preference order.
- A preference order copied from a ranking list. Rankings are not your merit number. An order that ignores what your score can realistically reach wastes the top of the form and gambles the bottom of it.
- A document that expires between application and reporting. Income and non-creamy-layer certificates have validity windows. A certificate that was fine in April can be refused in July.
- Freeze chosen to feel safe. Freezing a mid-list allotment in an early round ends the process. Sometimes that is right; it should be a decision, not a reflex.
- MahaDBT applied for after the deadline. The concession is a reimbursement, and missing the portal window means the college charges the full figure. See MahaDBT freeship and CAP fees.
- A quota that was never sanctioned. Some institutions have no institute-level quota at all. Money paid to hold such a seat buys nothing enforceable.
What a Pune seat costs — and what changes it
In one line: the figure that matters is category-wise and route-wise, and it is printed by the college, not by us.
We do not publish a single "Pune engineering fee" because there is no such number. The same college charges differently by category, by route and by year, and the only figure worth planning against is the one on its current circular. Every college page on this site carries the figure with the academic year and the document it came from; where we have not verified a current figure, the page says so instead of carrying a stale one.
Three things move the number more than families expect: the category and income line that decide MahaDBT eligibility, whether the seat came through CAP or an institute-level round, and hostel — which is a separate bill, sometimes larger than the tuition gap between two colleges you are choosing between.

The D. Y. Patil group is the one families most often confuse, because at least five differently branded institutes share the name: Pimpri, Akurdi, Talegaon, Nerul and DYPIU. Confirm the exact campus before you pay anything.

Medical admissions from Pune
In one line: MBBS and MD/MS run on NEET and MCC, not on MHT-CET, and the calendar is different from engineering.
For MBBS the routes are state counselling, All-India Quota and the deemed universities, each with its own fee structure and its own reporting rules. MBA and PGDM from Pune
In one line: the exam year and the intake year are not the same number, and mixing them costs a full cycle.
A candidate preparing now is applying for the batch that starts in 2027, while the exam is CAT 2026 or XAT 2027. We have seen families lose a year to that confusion alone. What we do not do
In one line: we cannot allot a seat, we do not sell one, and we will tell you when the answer is that your score does not reach that college.
This section exists because the loudest offers in this market are the ones that cannot be kept. Seats are allotted by the State CET Cell, by MCC, or by the institute under a published procedure. Nobody outside that process can promise a result inside it.
- No guaranteed or assured admission. Anyone offering one is either describing an ordinary sanctioned seat in dramatic language or selling something that will not survive verification.
- No payment to hold a seat outside the official process. Every legitimate payment goes to the counselling authority or into the institution's own account against a receipt, at a stage the published schedule names. Several institutions print this warning themselves — VIT Pune tells parents in writing to avoid intermediaries and agent networks.
- No figures we cannot source. Where a current fee or cut-off has not been verified against an official document, our pages say so rather than carrying a number from an aggregator.
- No pretending a college is reachable when it is not. A shortlist that flatters the family is worse than useless in a process this unforgiving.
Who should not bother calling us
In one line: if you want a guaranteed seat or a management-quota broker, we are the wrong people and will say so on the first call.
If your mind is set on a specific college regardless of what your score reaches, we will not be able to change the arithmetic. If you are looking for someone to arrange an admission outside the counselling process, we do not do that work at any price. And if you have already read the CET Cell brochure end to end, built your own preference order and checked your documents against the published list, you may genuinely not need us — that is a complete answer and it costs nothing to hear it.

Can you get me into a specific Pune college?
No, and neither can anyone else. Allotment is done by the State CET Cell for CAP, by MCC for All-India and deemed medical seats, or by the institute under its own published procedure. What can be changed is how well your preference order is built and whether your documents survive verification — which is where seats are most often actually won and lost.
Do you only work with Pune families?
No. The office is in Pune and Maharashtra CAP is where our depth is, but most counselling happens by phone and WhatsApp, including for candidates in other states applying to Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi NCR or the national private universities. Being physically in Pune matters for meeting us; it does not limit who we can help.
When should I contact you — before or after the result?
Before choice filling, not after allotment. The useful window opens the day your result is out and closes when the option form locks. Do you help with institute-level or management quota seats?
Yes, factually. These are sanctioned seats with published fees, not a backdoor, and the price is printed by the college itself — sometimes far above the CAP fee, sometimes identical to it. Some institutions have no such quota at all, and we will say so rather than let you chase one.
Which streams do you cover?
MBBS and MD/MS, B.Tech, and MBA/PGDM including global MBA programmes costed in rupees. Depth is greatest in Maharashtra — MHT-CET CAP, the institute-level route and the fee structures behind both — with Karnataka, Delhi NCR and the national private universities also covered.

Not outside the official process. Every legitimate payment goes to the counselling authority or into the institution's own account against a receipt, at a stage the published schedule names. My percentile is borderline for a college. Is it worth listing?
Usually yes, but placed correctly. A reach option costs nothing at the top of a preference form as long as the realistic options sit below it in the right order. What causes damage is the opposite — a reach option placed below something you would rather not accept, because allotment stops at the first option your merit number reaches.
Does MahaDBT apply to every seat?
No. It applies on the CAP route for eligible categories and income levels, and it is a reimbursement rather than a discount — the college bills the full amount and the government pays it back. Take the same seat through an ACAP round instead and the concession does not follow you. The mechanics and the deadline are on MahaDBT freeship and CAP fees.
How much should I budget for hostel on top of fees?
It varies enough between colleges that a general figure would mislead, so each college page carries its own hostel and mess charges from the institute's circular where it publishes them. Treat hostel as a separate decision with its own number — the gap between two colleges' hostel bills is sometimes larger than the gap between their tuition.
Is freeze or float the safer choice?
Neither is safe by default. Freeze ends your candidature for upgrades, which is right when the allotment is genuinely what you wanted and wrong when you accepted it out of nerves. Float keeps you in for a better option but can move you to something you like less. It should be decided against your own preference order, round by round, not as a general policy.
What documents cause the most trouble at reporting?
Domicile and income certificates in the wrong format or past their validity window, non-creamy-layer certificates issued for the wrong financial year, and name mismatches between the score card, the school certificate and the caste certificate. All of these are fixable weeks earlier and very hard to fix on the reporting day itself.
Can I apply to Maharashtra colleges without a Maharashtra domicile?
Yes, through the All-India seats within CAP, through institute-level rounds, and through private and deemed universities that do not use state domicile at all. The seat pools, the fees and sometimes the eligibility differ from the Maharashtra-domicile route, so the two should be planned as separate options rather than as one list.
Do you write the application or fill the form for me?
We do not log in as you or submit on your behalf. Counselling portals are the candidate's own account and handing those credentials to anyone is a bad idea regardless of who is asking. What we do is sit with you over the choices, the order and the documents, so that what you submit yourself is right.
What happens if I miss a reporting deadline?
In most CAP rounds a missed reporting window forfeits the allotted seat, and depending on the stage it can forfeit money already paid and affect your eligibility for later rounds. There is rarely a discretionary remedy. This is why we check the schedule against your own calendar at the start rather than tracking it round by round.
