RVCE Bangalore Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees & Placements

R V College of Engineering (RVCE) was established in 1963 and is run by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST); the college describes itself as one of India's earliest self-financing engineering colleges (rvce.edu.in official site). It is an autonomous institution affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by AICTE, New Delhi — both stated on the letterhead of the college's own AY2026-27 admission circulars.

The campus is a 16.85-acre site on Mysore Road in south-west Bengaluru, PIN 560059 (rvce.edu.in). The college's own circulars place it about 13 km from Bangalore City railway station and next to the Pattanagere metro stop on the Kengeri line. The AY2026-27 management-quota circular lists 13 B.E. programmes, including CSE and its AI & ML, Cyber Security and Data Science variants, ECE, EEE, Electronics & Telecommunication, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Aerospace, Biotechnology, and Industrial Engineering & Management. Sanctioned UG intake was 1,420 seats in 2023-24 (NIRF 2025, RVCE submission).

On rankings: RVCE held rank 99 in NIRF Engineering 2024 and moved to the 101-150 rank band in NIRF 2025 (nirfindia.org). We could not verify a current NAAC grade on the official site, so we do not quote one.

RVCE's own admissions page lists three ways in. First, the KEA route: the Karnataka Examinations Authority allots government-quota seats through KCET (UGCET) counselling — option entry, mock allotment, then round-wise allotment on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. Second, the COMEDK route: COMEDK UGET is the consortium exam for member institutions, and counselling runs online on comedk.org — choice filling, Round 1 allotment (28 July in the 2026 cycle), fee payment and college-reporting windows, then further rounds. Third, management quota: requests go directly to the trust by e-mail, but the AY2026-27 circular still requires a valid rank in KCET 2026, COMEDK 2026 or JEE Main 2026, plus minimum marks — 70% in 10th-standard Science and Mathematics, 65% in Maths and Physics in the 11th, and 60% in Physics and Mathematics in the 12th where results are announced.

A supernumerary quota for NRI/OCI/PIO/Nepal citizens exists for UG programmes (RVCE admissions page). Whichever the route, admission is completed on campus: report at the Civil Engineering Department (Room CE-205), get originals verified, pay the skill-lab and any balance fees by DD, UPI or online, and finish the online application entry (AY2026-27 KEA and COMEDK circulars). The management-quota circular states, in capitals, that the college does not entertain consultants or brokers and that all admissions are done directly — treat any agent promising a "direct seat" here as a red flag.

RVCE issued its AY2026-27 fee circulars on 15 July 2026, and they are precise about what is paid where. For KEA and COMEDK seats, most of the money goes to the counselling authority; only a balance is paid at the college (figures below for students who studied in Karnataka; totals rise for others).

In one line: a KEA-quota entrant pays ₹1,20,320 to KEA plus ₹20,000-₹33,800 at the college, and a COMEDK entrant pays ₹3,22,000 to COMEDK plus ₹32,320-₹46,120 at the college, depending on where they studied (AY2026-27, RVCE KEA and COMEDK admission circulars).

Management-quota tuition is branch-wise and front-loaded — the first year costs more than each later year (AY2026-27, RVCE management-quota circular):

On top of tuition, the same circular says students pay other fees of approximately ₹65,000 every year, with hostel and transport charges intimated separately. Fees are revised annually — always confirm against the current circular at rvce.edu.in/admission-circulars/.

We do not reproduce closing-rank tables we have not opened, so branch-wise closing ranks here stay [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-27] rather than being borrowed from aggregators. The real numbers live in two official places. KEA publishes round-wise, category-wise cutoff ranks for every college code on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in after each allotment round. COMEDK publishes college-wise engineering cutoff ranks on comedk.org — its current document list includes an "Engineering Cut-off Ranks After All Rounds" file for 2025. RVCE's own admissions FAQ points applicants to exactly these two sites, plus campus notice boards.

Three rules for reading them once you have the PDFs open. One: category changes everything — the General Merit closing rank and a reserved-category or Hyderabad-Karnataka closing rank for the same branch can be far apart, so read your own row, not the headline. Two: the round matters — closing ranks move between mock, Round 1 and later rounds, and a branch that closed out of reach in Round 1 can reopen when higher-ranked candidates exit. Three: never compare across quotas — a KCET rank and a COMEDK rank are from different exams with different candidate pools, so RVCE's KEA cutoff says nothing about its COMEDK cutoff.

The most reliable placement numbers for RVCE are the ones it reports to NIRF under its own signature. For the UG four-year programme (NIRF 2025, RVCE submission):

In one line: of 1,087 on-time graduates in 2023-24, 786 were placed at a median of ₹9,00,000 and 124 went to higher studies (NIRF 2025, RVCE submission).

What is not verifiable: RVCE does not publish an audited branch-wise placement report with average and highest packages on the pages we opened, so branch-wise medians stay [FIGURE MISSING]. And note what the college-wide median hides: by our own arithmetic on the NIRF table, about one in six on-time 2023-24 graduates (177 of 1,087) appears in neither the placed nor the higher-studies column — some of that will be declined offers, exam preparation or off-campus outcomes NIRF does not capture. Treat branch-wise "average package" claims seen elsewhere with caution unless they carry an official document.

From the college's own hostel page: boys' hostels are inside the campus, almost all twin-sharing with a few triple-sharing rooms, and first-year boys are allotted the Chamundi block. Girls are housed at two locations, including the Diamond Jubilee block for B.E. students; the admission circulars also reference a Krishna Garden hostel for girls with its own bus charge. Boys' hostellers share a common vegetarian mess in the Cauvery block. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, hostellers get access to sports and gym facilities, heating coils and irons are banned in some blocks, students bring their own bedding, and bathrooms are typically common rather than attached. Allocation is handled by the hostel office, subject to availability and sometimes first-come-first-served.

Hostel and mess fees are not published on any official page we opened — the management-quota circular says hostel and transportation fees will be intimated in due course. So the honest entry is: hostel fee [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-27]; confirm directly with the hostel offices on 080-6818 8256 (boys) or 080-6818 8165 / 8166 (girls), the numbers printed in the admission circulars. What is published: regular college bus transport costs ₹40,000 a year, and ₹10,500 for girls staying at the Krishna Garden hostel (AY2026-27, RVCE admission circulars).

An honest filter, because a seat here is expensive in some routes and contested in all of them:

• Families for whom a large education loan would be crushing should not take the management-quota CSE route — ₹75 lakh in tuition alone over four years (AY2026-27 circular), before the roughly ₹65,000-a-year other fees, hostel and living costs. A merit seat elsewhere beats a debt-financed brand.
• Out-of-state students banking on the cheapest route: the ₹1.2-lakh-class KEA seat rides on KCET counselling, which is effectively a Karnataka game; the realistic outside-Karnataka route is COMEDK at ₹3,22,000 a year — budget for that, not for the KEA figure.
• Anyone picturing a sprawling residential university: this is a compact 16.85-acre urban campus on a busy arterial road, and many students are day scholars commuting across Bengaluru.
• Rank-sensitive applicants: RVCE slipped from NIRF 99 (2024) to the 101-150 band (2025). If a top-100 tag is central to your decision, weigh that trajectory.
• Core-branch aspirants sizing expectations off CSE outcomes: the ₹9,00,000 median is college-wide, and no branch-wise breakdown is published — do not assume CSE-level offers in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical.

Against the peer set we cover, the comparison is really about entry route and cost, not just brand. COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai are government institutes: their fees sit far below RVCE's COMEDK figure of ₹3,22,000 a year, but their seats flow through MHT-CET, which heavily favours Maharashtra candidates — the mirror image of RVCE's KEA quota favouring Karnataka. For an out-of-state student, RVCE's COMEDK route is often the more open door, at a price.

PICT Pune and SPIT Mumbai are the closer analogues: private, compact, urban, computing-heavy colleges whose reputations rest on placement outcomes rather than campus scale. The decision axis there is ecosystem — Bengaluru's internship and startup market sits at RVCE's doorstep on Mysore Road, while PICT and SPIT lean on Pune's and Mumbai's markets — and route: MHT-CET/JEE for the Pune-Mumbai pair versus KCET/COMEDK here. VIT Pune belongs in the same conversation for students weighing a slightly easier entry against a thinner brand.

The honest summary: if you have a strong KCET rank, the RVCE KEA seat is among the best cost-to-outcome propositions in this peer set; if you are paying management-quota rates, compare that ₹75-lakh CSE total hard against what the same money buys elsewhere before you commit.
